A Caribbean-based spirits producer faced rising, unpredictable energy costs that impacted efficiency and long-term growth. Frequent grid outages compounded the challenge, disrupting production and adding further uncertainty. For a business built on consistent output, this instability directly undermined profitability.

To break free from grid dependence, the manufacturer consulted Redaptive and Verdant Microgrid to design a resilient, on-site  . Financed through a 25-year Energy Service Agreement (ESA), the project required no upfront capital, removing a major barrier to action. The microgrid combined 2.25 MW of solar, 2.0 MWh of battery storage, new natural gas generators, and combined-heat-and-power units into a fully integrated system.  e collaboration of Redaptive’s financing expertise and Verdant’s technical capabilities ensured  the project was both bankable and operationally sound.

The $74 million microgrid enables the manufacturer to operate independently from the local utility provider, ensuring uninterrupted production, predictable energy costs, and progress toward sustainability commitments. The collaboration also created shared wins: Verdant Microgrid was able to deliver a technically complex, multi-asset system with confidence, while Redaptive’s financing model removed capital barriers and streamlined execution. Together, the partners safeguarded the customer’s operations and  demonstrated a repeatable model for accelerating resilient, on-site energy solutions.
