on a Net-Neutral Renewable Energy and Efficiency Project
- Industry: Higher Education
- Solution Types: Lighting
Iron Mountain has large-scale green energy goals and was looking to significantly reduce its GHG emissions and electricity consumption globally. Iron Mountain planned to replace its high-risk-of-failure HVAC assets, and its inefficient fluorescent lighting fixtures across its portfolio. With competing resources for internal capital, it was challenging for Iron Mountain to prioritize a global lighting & HVAC initiative.
Over a 3-year span Redaptive’s project management team successfully implemented an LED retrofit program for Iron Mountain across 174 sites, and a HVAC retrofit program across 120 sites without impacting its complex, fully-operating facilities. Redaptive’s wave deployment approach maximized speed to savings while abiding to specific needs of each unique location across the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, and Puerto Rico.
The Redaptive programs resulted in a significant reduction in energy costs. The reduced electricity consumption will avoid 331,000 metric tons of CO2 emissions over the service term, the equivalent to removing 672,000 barrels of oil avoided or the emissions from 39,000 homes.
